Altendorff hails ‘incredible’ support as Lewes beat Borough to go third
Lewes can reflect on an excellent month of August after securing their fourth straight league win in a 1-0 Bank Holiday triumph over Eastbourne Borough.
The Rooks have gone from strength to strength after a 4-0 opening day defeat to Enfield Town, keeping four clean sheets and taking 13 points in the subsequent five outings.
This puts them 3rd in the Isthmian Premier Division as they head into FA Cup qualifying action this weekend.
Over the Bank Holiday weekend, the Rooks went away to Aveley and beat the Millers - who finished 2nd last season - 2-0 in a highly efficient display.

The hosts lost captain Ryan Henshaw to a red card in the 19th minute, and Lewes became increasingly assertive as they netted two opportune second-half goals.
Danny Bassett stroked home in the 58th minute and Ryan Gondoh, fresh off returning to the club, converted in the 89th minute to make sure of the three points.
And 48 hours later, the Rooks welcomed a whopping 2,112 supporters to The Dripping Pan for a hard-fought Sussex derby.
Lewes traded chances with Steve King’s Borough side, but it was the excellence of Noel Fisher’s 51st-minute strike that won the contest.
The Rooks had to survive late chances, with Louis Rogers making a couple of excellent saves, Josh Rees striking the post and Josh Spinks making an all-important block.
Joint Assistant Manager David Altendorff said: “It means so much, not just to me on a personal level but to the people of the town that have come out in their numbers to support us today.
“The support from the off was absolutely incredible. It had that cup final feel.
“It’s been a long wait – 17 years since we’ve played Eastbourne Borough in a league game.
“It’s been a long time coming, so to get the 1-0 win, a clean sheet at the end and bodies on the line, it means a hell of a lot.”
This weekend, the Rooks welcome fellow Isthmian Premier Division side Cray Wanderers to The Dripping Pan in an FA Cup First Qualifying Round tie.
The Wands have been in mixed form so far this season, sitting in 13th place with two wins, two draws and a defeat.
The Rooks, meanwhile, will be looking to improve upon their recent FA Cup failings, having exited in the First Qualifying Round in the past two seasons.
Kick-off is at 3pm this Saturday.
