Jahanbakhsh joined the Seagulls from AZ Alkmaar for a reported £17m fee last summer and had started four successive games when a hamstring injury kept him out for two months.

The 25-year-old then linked up with Iran for the Asian Cup but has been back with Albion for the last month.

Jahanbakhsh has revealed his frustration at the hamstring injury which kept him out for longer than expected and said: "I was in good fitness. I was getting back playing four or five games, we had won a couple of games so I was getting into good fitness, good confidence and playing for the club.

"I didn't expect it to be that long. It just kept me out for eight, nine weeks. It wasn't something I expected to be honest but it just happened. That's a part of football and once I was fit I went for international duty.

"It was a tough time. Mentally, physically, it was a tough time but fortunately I passed that difficulty and now I'm in a good form, I feel good, I need to play more games to get back to confidence.

"I'm not looking back to what happened and bad vibes, I'm just looking forward now and doing my things for the club and playing more games for Brighton."

Jahanbakhsh is now challenging himself to score and provide more goals for Albion.

He has played 14 times for the club, with seven of those appearances coming off the bench, but is yet to score or register an assist.

Jahanbakhsh said: "As a front player, winger, striker, people expect you to score or be involved with goals. That is my next target.

"Now the most important thing for me is to make minutes and get back to good fitness and at the end be involved with goals, that's also important.

"But as long as we win, it doesn't matter who scores."

Albion have some important league games coming up and are also in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Jahanbakhsh said: "Both are important. As a club we are fighting for both. The FA Cup is very important for the fans. I've heard a lot about it and the fans are looking forward to the next round.

"On the other side, we've thrown away some points where we've had some good performances and unfortunately lost games or drawn at home.

"Now it's a very important period for us in which we're looking forward to having good performances, getting points and making sure we are in the right position at the end of the season."
