Bexhill face another road trip

Bexhill United hit the road again tonight for a rearranged cup game.

Having travelled to Horsham YMCA last Tuesday and Shoreham seven days earlier, the Pirates will again head to West Sussex for a Sussex County Football League Division Two Challenge Cup tie against Steyning Town.

The first round match was abandoned at the first time of asking 11 days ago when an ambulance was called after Bexhill striker Casey Ham suffered a painful ankle injury. Steyning led 2-0 at the time.

Bexhill manager Darrol Parris said: “It’s the fourth week running it’s been an away game (the original meeting with Shoreham was postponed).

“I don’t think it’s a problem (playing) midweek, but they’ve all been away and all at least an hour. If you want to be there at half six, you’ve got to leave Bexhill at half five. It becomes a problem because some people can’t get away.”

Ross Markham is unavailable through work, while Martin Denny, Ham, Dan Hill and Sam Thompson are injured, and Lewis Parsons is away. The likes of George Aston, Dom Bristow and Rickkie Rand are likely to be in the squad.

Bexhill are fourth in the league having won six and drawn four of their 10 league games so far, while Steyning are fourth-from-bottom with eight points from 12 games.
