Bexhill triumph on Vase debut

Two splendid goals from Scott McDonald gave the Pirates a 2-0 win away to Glebe and set up a home tie against Rochester United in second round qualifying on October 4.
To make the result even more satisfying, Bexhill achieved it despite being hit by several withdrawals in the run-up to the match.

Although goalkeeper Yarni Camara made one fantastic save early on, Bexhill restricted their opponents to very few chances and looked dangerous at the other end.
McDonald opened the scoring with a moment of genius in the 27th minute, spotting the goalkeeper off his line and beating him with a brilliant shot from 30 yards on the diagonal into the roof of the net.
The same player doubled Bexhill’s advantage in the 49th minute with another fine finish from the corner of the box at the end of a flowing move involving Jack Aston, Dan Hill and Allan McMinigal.
