A pitch inspection has been arranged for 12noon tomorrow, but with more rain falling in north Kent this morning, prospects of the Ryman Football League Division One South fixture going ahead are said to be extremely doubtful.

The match was originally scheduled for fairly early in the season, but was put back to make way for cup fixtures. It was then pencilled in for early December only to be postponed because Whitstable had an important FA Trophy tie the following weekend.

Having seen the weekend game away to Redhill postponed and subsequently rearranged for Tuesday February 25, United have still completed just two league fixtures since December 7.

John Maggs’s side is still to reach the midway point in its league programme, and now has midweek games lined-up for every week until the end of next month.

Rye United are also due to be in action tomorrow night away to East Preston. Unbeaten Sussex County Football League Division One leaders EP played at home on Saturday, but Rye have been out of action since the win over high-riding Littlehampton Town on December 14.
