After a scrappy opening, it was no surprise when on 21 minutes Sam Forsyth struck from 20 yards leaving keeper Jordan Markey flat-footed. Westside then took control of the game although Billingshurst were still creating chances; Ricardo Fernandes had a half chance but was shut down quickly by the keeper, Jermaine Beer then blazed over the bar from 10 yards out and a corner was just too high for Eddie French to head home.

The second half started badly when Rob Tambling mis-timed a header and with Markey left in no-mans land Tevon Webster made it 2-0.

Westside continued to dominate the game although both sides created few opportunities and despite personnel and tactical changes, the home side could not get back into the game.

Not the Westside story that Billingshurst had hoped for at the start of the evening but it will remain an important match in the club’s history. They now start their league season on Saturday away at Shoreham.
