The boss says pre-season has gone well and while results don't matter until that first 'proper' game on the first weekend of October, it was nice to get into a winning habit with a friendly victory over Whitehawk.

Bloor says his squad is taking shape nicely, with large numbers bidding to be in it and now being whittled down, and he took time to thank the supporters' club for getting the club's efforts to boost their budget under way with a donation - the idea being that funds raised will be used to add to the playing ranks.

The boss tells Kevin Anderson players and fans are 'chomping at the bit' for the season to start but says they can't hurry what's happening in football and the world in general and adds: "It's how life is now and we have to get on with it."

Borough go to Sutton on Tuesday night and Eastleigh on September 19 among their remaining friendlies and Bloor says both - against National League teams - will be very good tests of where the squad is at.

Fixtures for the new National South campaign are out on Tuesday and Bloor says they will take whatever is thrown at them.

He says they are hopeful a crowd will be allowed into the ground when the Sports take the field for their opening game, which will be an FA Cup tie on the weekend of Ocrober 3/4. "We need our fans here - we've got some of the best fans in the league," he said. "We get a fantastic atmosphere and we want that every week."
