Blues battling ‘keeper crisis

Lambert has this week been on the hunt for a new number one in time for the visit from Selsey on Saturday as he has been without a recognised first team stopper.

Speaking yesterday (Wednesday) morning, Lambert said: “I’ve been chasing one all week and he’s going to let me know tomorrow whether he’s joining us or not.

“At the moment I would say it’s a fair chance. He’s got another offer or two in the pipeline, and he said he would have a think about it and let me know on Thursday.”

The problem has come about because the excellent Josh Pelling looks to be stepping up to Ryman Division One South club Eastbourne Town after a brief but impressive spell at Gullivers.

Josh Willis transferred to Rye United at the back end of last week and Matt Dann has headed off to university. If Lambert is unable to bring someone in by tomorrow afternoon, he may have to use defender Zack McEniry between the posts.

Sidley are 16th in Sussex County Football League Division One - one place and one point below Saturday’s opponents - having won only two and lost seven of their last 11 matches in all competitions.
