Bognor launch new project to reach out to community

The launch of BRIC means that at each home game the club will be inviting guests from various worthy set-ups to visit Nyewood Lane -- and for Saturday's game against Margate, they welcome former player John Price in his role with Love Your Hospital.

The organisation is the dedicated charity for the three hospitals that make up Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester, Worthing Hospital and Southlands Hospital in Shoreham.

They aim to fund new and improved medical equipment, enable staff to provide outstanding healthcare and ensure patients have access to upgraded facilities.

The visit ties in perfectly with BRIC's mission statement, which is to "engage, welcome and support the whole Bognor Regis community, and to increase the role of the football club within it".

BRIC aims to reach out to the whole area and bring into greater focus many of the schemes already running involving the local community. These include a growing and very successful youth football project involving more than 30 boys’ and girls’ teams embracing players from all sorts of backgrounds and ethnic groups.

With other links to local food-banks, plus charities and community organisations, the club has already built up a lot of expertise and contacts to begin taking this further.

Roger Nash has agreed to chair the sub-committee set up to drive BRIC forward. He said: “I'm delighted to be involved in this important new initiative and already we are buzzing with ideas and suggestions as to how we can play an even bigger role in the Bognor Regis and wider community."
