Richard Scudamore left mouths open and jaws dropped yesterday as it was revealed he was set to receive a £5million leaving present, paid for by Premier League clubs.
The resulting outrage has prompted PlayOJO, a bastion of fairness, into action – hand-delivering a themed leaving hamper comprising of ‘normal’ leaving gifts to Premier League HQ.
Whereas Premier League clubs were asked to contribute £250,000 each, PlayOJO, who are challenging the online casino market by being fair and transparent, spent a much more reasonable £250 to fill up Richard’s less is Scuda-more leaving hamper and themed the presents to his tenure at the Premier League.

And they wrote a letter to, among others, Brighton and Hove Albion chairman and owner Tony Bloom, to ask if they will contribute £12.50 towards the hamper.
The gift hamper included;
Cinema Vouchers – The perfect present for someone who loves big TV deals.
Giant red leaving card – The perfect colour for a send off.
A ‘World’s Best Boss’ mug – The perfect present for a man who has made clubs richer and only cares about one cup.
Two packs of travel-size playing cards – finally allowing Scudamore to realise his dream of an extra game abroad.
A bottle of prosecco and chocolates – The Premier League is all about HEROES and CELEBRATIONS!
The hamper was then hand delivered to Premier League HQ in Marylebone and PlayOJO have now sent each of the Premier League clubs an email asking them to contribute £12.50 towards the gift list.
A spokesperson for PlayOJO, said: “Given most of us have to put up with a leaving present we don’t like and a giant card, Richard Scudamore’s £5,000,000 golden goodbye feels a touch unfair. And it’s not just disappointed departures who should feel hard done by, £250,000 is far too much an ask for the clubs – everyone knows you chip in a fiver at most!
“As a result, we wanted to provide an alternative leaving hamper that’s not just fairer on the clubs, but also on Richard too. It’s a bit embarrassing to receive such a bumper present from your peers, so hopefully he’ll appreciate a less Premier leaving present.”
