Here, Albion historian Ian Hine gives us his top 15 players signed from overseas clubs. Some classy, some controversial but all memorable.
13. Sergei Gotsmanov 16 apps, 4 goals (1989/90)
Despite only turning out 16 times, the Soviet international midfielder made a huge impression. Came on trial from Dinamo Minsk and was brilliant in the last two months of the season in a poor Albion side. The club were desperate to secure his services but went to Southampton. | other
14. Stefan Iovan 10 appearances (1991/92)
Arrived at Albion having played over 300 games for Steaua Bucharest and 34 times for Romania. Made a big impression on Barry Lloyd in August 1990. Surely the only player to have won both the European Cup and Sussex Senior Cup. | ugc
15. Maheta Molango 6 appearances, 1 goal (2004-2007)
After being released by German club SV Wacker Burghausen, he impressed Albion manager Mark McGhee during a two-week trial in the summer of 2004. Fell out with McGhee shortly afterwards and didnt play again that season. Went out on loan but returned to Albion in 2007. | ugc
