Brighton confirm defender switch after West Ham transfer decision
All the latest Brighton transfer news for the January window
Brighton defender Igor Julio has returned to the club from his loan spell at West Ham United.
Albion’s sporting director Jason Ayto said, “We’re very pleased to welcome Igor back to the club.
“He will now be part of the squad going forward, and his return gives us added competition and cover in defence for the remainder of the season.”
Igor joined Albion from Fiorentina in 2023 for around £15m, making his Premier League debut later that year, and has amassed more than 200 senior matches in Austria, Italy and England.
Igor, 27, is contracted with the Seagulls until June 2027 and has so far made 50 appearances for the club.
The Brazilian made four outings for West Ham and had just one Premier League start for the Hammers against Bournemouth.
He now faces a battle for first team minutes at Brighton with the likes of Lewis Dunk, Jan Paul van Hecke, Diego Coppola and Olivier Boscagli all competing for the centre back spots.
