A penalty-fest at the London Stadium saw West Ham and Brighton share the points in an entertaining 2-2 draw.
Albion started the game well and had early chances to open the scoring through Yankuba Minteh and Diego Gomez. But in typical fashion they were soon behind. Jan Paul van Hecke was caught the wrong side of Jarrod Bowen and the West Ham man slipped it past Bart Verbruggen with ease.
Then it all became quite mad. Max Kilman wiped out Yankuba Minteh in the box and Danny Welbeck fired home the spot kick. Lucas Paquetá then rugby tackled Lewis Dunk. Referee Michael Salisbury awarded another spot kick but this time Welbeck chipped his penalty on to the bar. Welbeck was booked in the scuffle that ensued.
A third penalty was soon awarded just before the break. Dunk blocked Callum Wilson's close range shot but after review a penalty was given and Paquetá sent Verbruggen the wrong way. 2-1, halftime and breathe.
Albion were the better team after the break. The impressive Joel Veltman forced a leveller from close range after a Ferdi Kadioglu corner but they just couldn’t force a winner.
Brighton were good in spells but the same frailties remain. Here’s how they rated...

2. Bart Verbruggen - 6
Beaten easily by Bowen when one on one for the opener but then delivered a fine save on 64 minutes to deny the Hammers captain. | Getty Images

3. Joel Veltman - 8
Started ahead of the absent Wieffer and a very Veltman-like performance. Tackled well, stole possession at key moments and popped up with a goal. His third against West Ham. Should start more often. | Getty Images

4. Lewis Dunk - 8
I thought he was outstanding today. A fine last ditch clearance on 11 minutes to prevent his team going further behind. Harshly adjudged to have handled for West Ham's penalty. Defended very well. Total commitment! | Getty Images
