Tau was recalled from his loan spell in Belgium this week and Albion head coach Graham Potter must decide whether to use the South Africa international from the start or from the bench.
Brighton have a few injury concerns ahead of the match with Tariq Lamptey (hamstring), Aaron Connolly (hamstring), Danny Welbeck (knee), Steven Alzate (illness) and Adam Lallana (illness) all likely to miss out.
Potter could also hand opportunities for the likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Ali Jahanbakhsh.

9. Alexis Mac Allister
Another player who has had limited chances to shine this season. The Argentina playmaker is a high quality performer, played well in Carabao matches but has had niggling injuries and a reported Covid-19 scare. Featured against Arsenal recently and hopefully getting back to his best.
10. Andi Zeqiri
The striker has made two PL appearances from the bench following his 3.5m summer arrival. The prolific Swiss under-21 international could be in line for his first Albion start in Newport.
11. Percy Tau
Recalled from loan spell in Belgium and his arrival this week created quite a social media storm as South Africa's favourite player looks set to make his debut. Said to have trained well this week and expected to play a part at Newport. Whether that's starting or from the bench remains to be seen. It seems the whole of South Africa want him to start!
