Albion have lost their last three matches and badly need the points to help pull themselves clear of the relegation zone.
Potter will once again be without the talents of flying wing back Tariq Lamptey who will undergo surgery on his hamstring injury and has been ruled out for the season.
Defender Adam Webster (ankle) and striker Aaron Connolly (rib) will also miss the trip to St Mary's. Adam Lallana will hope to build on his impressive display in the 2-1 loss against Leicester last week and impress against his old club Southampton.

5. Dan Burn
Continues to have his critics but remains a trusted member of Graham Potter team and will line-up on the left hand side
6. Leandro Trossard
The Belgian looked lout of sorts against Leicester and will be determined to hit back with a better display against Southampton. Has just two goals to his name this season
7. Yves Bissouma
Struggled in the second half against Leicester as Brighton's midfield couldn't maintain possession. Remains Albion's most consistent performer in midfield this season
8. Pascal Gross
Gets through a mountain of work in the Brighton midfield and always likely to chip in with an assist. Delivers a great ball from set pieces.
