Brighton predicted starting XI vs Liverpool as £65m duo drop out of Carabao Cup tie

All the latest team news for Brighton and Hove Albion ahead of their Carabao Cup tie with Liverpool at the Amex Stadium on Wednesday (7pm).

Fabian Hurzeler is confident Brighton will rise to the occasion and says his side are relishing the challenge of taking on Liverpool twice in the space of four days.

Albion first host the Carabao Cup holders on Wednesday night in the last-16 before travelling to Anfield for their Premier League meeting with Arne Slot’s men.

“It’s a challenge,” said Hurzeler of the upcoming Liverpool double-header. “It’s an opportunity, a chance for us to prove how we are as a team.

“I think Liverpool, for sure at the moment, is one of the best teams in the world, but again, it’s a game and we are able to beat every team in this league.

“We are convinced that we can do it and if you don’t have the self belief, if you don’t have the confidence, you shouldn’t go in games like this."

Skipper Lewis Dunk is ruled out with a calf issue while £40m summer signing Georginio Rutter is cup-tied.
