Wilder is also hopeful that as the Blades play a pressing game similar to Liverpool – that will give them the edge in negotiations for a season long loan.

Brighton, who start their Premier League campaign against Chelsea at the Amex tonight, are keen to add firepower to their attack.

Albion look a bit light up front following the departure of Glenn Murray to Watford.

Brighton head coach Graham Potter hopes his existing forwards, such as Aaron Connolly, Neal Maupay and Leandro Trossard, will add to their goals from last season but a striker remains a priority for the club.

"We have got players who are in forward positions who I think, if you look at their total goals, all of them would say they would like to improve on those totals and all would be capable of that," said Potter.

"As a team we have to try to attack better, we have to make better decisions in the final third when we get there.

"I think sometimes we take the wrong option in terms of that final bit.

"Premier League defenders don’t make it so easy for you but clearly that is our challenge, our way to improve is to create more chances and score more.

The Seagulls were linked Almeria's £20m rated Uruguay international Darwin Nunez and Stuttgart striker Nicolas Gonzalez but Brewster's form while on loan at Potter's former club Swansea last season impressed the Brighton management.

The speedy youngster has an eye for goal and the 20-year-old netted 11 times in 22 games for Swansea City last term.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says a decision has not been taken about the future of Brewster who didn't make the match day squad for Liverpool's opening day 4-3 win against Leeds.

"He's our player, a wonderful kid, a big talent. But the decisions just aren't finished yet because we don’t know what’s going on," said Klopp.

"There's so much going on. We are really thoughtful about what would be best for his development.

"We don’t have decisions for the squad and positions for which players, but we want to help him."

Villa remain interested in Brewster despite making the club record signing of Ollie Watkins from Brentford.
