Brighton transfer deadline day: Seven players could leave and the two that won’t
All the latest transfer and contract news for Brighton and Hove Albion and across the Premier League
Brighton still have plenty of business to conclude on transfer deadline day.
The Seagulls have been busy in the summer trading window as they smashed their transfer record to sign defender Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham for £50m.
Winger Zadok Yohanna arrived from AIK for around £21m and £18m was spent to bring in Pascal Struijk from Leeds United.
The major outgoings were Carlos Baleba to Manchester United for £70m, Jan Pual van Hecke to Tottenham for £52m and Danny Welbeck to Chelsea, while the likes of Joel Veltman, Adam Webster, Solly March and James Milner (retired) all left on the expiration of their contracts.
So what's left for Brighton to do before today’s 11pm deadline? Here's seven players who could leave on transfer deadline day and two that probably won't
Igor Julio
Burnley are keen to sign Igor today. The Brazilian defender spent time on loan at West Ham last term but the 28-year-old hardly featured. Brighton have added to their defence this transfer window with Vuskovic, Michael Svoboda, Costinha, Struijk and Jaouen Hadjam all arriving.
Igor will likely move on loan or a permanent deal. "I'm a Brighton player, I want to have a great season, either here or somewhere else," said Igor in July. "I just want to be able to play again, compete and be happy. I hope this happens this season."
Eiran Cashin
Another left footed centre back who will likely be on the move this deadline day.
The former Derby County man is contracted until 2030 but has been linked with loans to the Championship, with Charlton the latest club believed to be keen.
Matías Orozco
Brighton confirmed the signing midfielder Matias Orozco yesterday from Deportivo Cali on a five-year contract.
The 18-year-old, who is captain of Colombia’s Under-20 team, joined for a reported £3.5million fee and is set to be loaned out by the Seagulls. A loan to Europe looks most likely.
Amario Cozier-Duberry
Brighton value the former Arsenal man at around £10m and earlier this window turned down two bids from Rangers thought to be around the £7m mark. He featured for Brighton in the Uefa Conference League at Tromso, but his future remains unclear.
A potential new contract and a loan away, or permanent sale? Big decision for Brighton the Cozier-Duberrys.
Evan Ferguson
The Ireland international is still recovering from his ankle injury sustained last season but he may yet seal another loan move away.
It's been more than 20 months since Ferguson last appeared for Albion, following loans at West Ham and Roma.
Italian club Genoa are believed to be keen, but don't rule Celtic either.
Matt O'Riley
One week ago and I would have said O'Riley is certain to leave, now I'm not so sure.
Injuries to Jack Hinshelwood and Georginio have opened a space in the No 10 role. O'Riley has long-standing interest in Serie A, with Roma and Atalanta both keen on the former Celtic man.
My hunch is that he will stay until the next transfer window at least.
Yankuba Minteh
Brighton rejected two bids from Liverpool for the flying Gambian. The Seagulls appeared open for a sale but were holding out for around £80m, a valuation the Reds were not prepared to meet.
Should Liverpool return on the final day of trading then a deal could be rekindled. Minteh - currently injured - was reportedly very keen to go to Anfield.
Ferdi Kadioglu - stay
The Turkey international missed the Villa match with a "small issue" and was linked with a move to Manchester United.
The rumour had some creditability as United need a left back and Brighton also signed left back Hadjam. Kadioglu can play a variety of roles and, at this stage, it looks as though he will stay for another season at least.
Yasin Ayari - stay
Rumours also started circulating around the Sweden international who missed the Chelsea match with a "small injury."
New contract talks appear slow to reaching an agreement but Brighton would not really want to lose another midfielder in the same window as Baleba left.
"We know what we have in Yasin, Yasin knows what he has at this club," said Hurzeler last week. "So therefore, I'm quite convinced that we find good solutions.”
