Brighton's bid to beat drop given huge boost as Premier League could switch home game vs West Ham to allow fans in

According to the government’s proposed road map out of lockdown, top flight clubs could be allowed to welcome supporters back into grounds from Monday May 17th.

Initially, that date would have meant that fans would only be permitted to attend matches on the final day of the season, May 23rd.

The Premier League are hopeful that they will be able to push back the penultimate round of fixtures, however, meaning that all 20 clubs in the division are able to host one game with a partial home support.

"Hopefully the final two fixtures of our season will have up to 10,000 supporters in them all,” Masters said.

"We've got to go past those first initial steps in the government's road map to get there, so hopefully that will be a fantastic finale to end the season."

There are two realistic ways by which the Premier League could alter their fixture schedule to make their plans a reality.

One would be to shift the 36th round of games from Tuesday May 11th and Wednesday May 12th to the following week.

The alternative would be for those clashes to be delayed until the following weekend to coincide with the FA Cup final on which coincides with the FA Cup on Saturday May 15th, with the 37th round of games being postponed by a few days to become a midweek round.

For Brighton, that means that they could have fans in the crowd to face either West Ham or Manchester City.
