The Seagulls, who dominated possession in the first half, took a deserved lead five minutes before the break, after Jake Livermore turned the ball into his own net

When asked if the Baggies deserved more from their impressive second half performance, Bilic said: "Yes and no. It was probably the fair result but I would fancy another ten minutes.

"The way we ended the game, we were the team much closer to scoring more goals."

"I would agree with Slaven," Brighton boss Graham Potter said.

"I thought first half we were the better team. We scored a goal and had some other good chances, so, if anything, we could have been ahead a bit more at half time.

“Credit to West Brom, in the second half, they came out and responded.

"They had a go, pushed us back and they played better.

“I think if we were honest their goal was a deserved one and [it was] a fair result in the end.”

Potter said the absence of suspended Lewis Dunk was no excuse but admitted his team may have missed his leadership towards the end.

He added: "As the opposition stepped up their performance level, we made a few unforced errors, a few passes went astray.

"Second half, we have to be a little bit better.

"The hardest thing in football is to put the ball in the net.

"In the Premier League, it's not so easy to get wins and roll teams over to create chances. We did that well in the first half and the performance level was really good. It wasn't in the second half.

"We have to work to turn those performances into points."
