Keep or sell? - Every Brighton player out of contract this summer

All the latest contract and transfer news for Brighton and Hove Albion

Brighton have some key decisions to make on some of their experienced players this summer.

Albion's veterans have played a key role of late as they helped steady the ship after a poor recent run. The likes of Danny Welbeck, Lewis Dunk, James Milner, Pascal Gross and Joel Veltman featured prominently in two vital wins against Brentford and Nottingham Forest.

The six points gained helped ease some pressure on head coach Fabian Hurzeler and the older heads will still be invaluable to the boss in the closing stages of the season.

Danny Welbeck, 35, recently triggered a contract extension for next season, while Lewis Dunk, 34, also has another year at the end of this campaign. Pascal Gross, who re-joined last January, will be at the club next season too.

Here’s every Brighton player out of contract this summer

Adam Webster

The experienced defender sustained an ACL in pre-season and was ruled out for the entire campaign. It was a real blow for the 31-year-old who showed at the back end of last season he can still be an impressive and reliable Premier League centre back.

Hurzeler often praises Webster for his leadership skills and team bonding off the pitch. A great professional and interesting to what happens here. Jan Paul van Hecke has been linked with moves away - Newcastle and Tottenham - are keen and Brighton also have Diego Coppola returning from his loan this summer.

Joel Veltman

The 34-year-old right back has been an ultra-reliable and consistent performer over the years for Brighton. He plays second choice to Mats Wieffer these days but also performs well when called upon.

The Dutchman is often with linked with a return to his old club Ajax and this summer could be the one where he departs. He has been a true pro for Brighton and and has been one of the club’s best value signings since their return to the top flight. If he does go, he will be missed.

James Milner

Fabian Hurzeler has already stated that he wants to work with the 40-year-old next season but there has been little sign yet of a new deal. Milner admitted recently that he's not sure what next season holds.

His displays recently prove he can do a job in the Premier League and his experience remains a huge benefit for the younger players. This is a tricky one to call and as yet, it's uncertain which way it will go. Maybe one more year? As Hurzeler also said, “Anything is possible with James!”

Solly March

The 31-year-old finally returned to play the final 10 minutes of Brighton's vital win against Nottingham Forest after 11 months of persistent knee issues. He then missed the following Arsenal match due to "a small muscular issue" that Hurzeler stressed was not related to the knee.

March remains hugely popular with the fans and will hope to prove his fitness and his value to the squad between now and the end of the season. Every Brighton fan will surely hope he gets another year... if he can stay fit! Contracts are rarely given out on sentiment and March still has to prove he can contribute regularly in the Premier League.
