Albion are likely to be without their impact player Alireza Jahanbakhsh as they return to Premier League action at Crystal Palace this Sunday.

Jahanbakhsh was in fine form for Brighton in this season's Carabao Cup matches and scored excellent goals in the victories against Portsmouth and Preston.

The Iranian was pushing hard for a starting role in the Premier League at Everton but tweaked his hamstring in the League Cup loss to Manchester United.

It was hoped he would be back and available for action after the international break but it looks likely the Palace match will arrive too soon for the 27-year-old.

"There is a slight muscular problem with Ali that kept him out of the Everton game," said Potter. "He has not trained with the group this week.

"It is looking as though Palace might come too soon. We will see how it goes but we will certainly not rush him.

"He's making progress but it could be more West Brom rather than Crystal Palace."

Fellow striker Aaron Connolly is also undergoing treatment after he took a knock while playing for Republic of Ireland yesterday.

Connolly is back with Brighton and they are checking his wrist and a jarred neck ahead of Sunday.

"Aaron had a heavy knock after a nasty fall. We are checking out his wrist and a bit of a jarred neck so we are seeing how that goes and how he recovers," said Potter.

Defender Tariq Lamptey (hamstring) is making progress from his injury after he was replaced at halftime during the 4-2 loss at Everton.

Davy Propper, who has not featured in the league this season due to an Achilles problem, is training with the first team and his fitness will be assessed ahead of Sunday.

Jose Izquierdo continues his recovery from a long-term knee injury and he's expected to feature for the Albion under-23s as they welcome Liverpool's under-23s this Saturday.
