In his weekly list of scoreline predictions for BBC Sport, pundit Mark Lawrenson backed the visitors to claim a 2-0 win on Sunday evening.

Elaborating on his pick, Lawro questioned: "Brighton have been playing pretty well but they still haven't won at home in the league this season and, until that changes, they are not going to pull away from the bottom of the table.

"I don't see the Seagulls getting three points here, either. Tottenham have not really hit top gear for a few weeks now but I think they will find a way of winning this one."

Meanwhile, Lawro’s sparring partner for the week, Black Country saxophonist and Swansea City fan Lewis Evans, also picked a 2-0 win for Mourinho's men.

He argued: "Brighton boss Graham Potter is another alumni of Swansea. He's a really good manager, but I think he gets quite a lot of stick because of their inability to finish their chances, when that's not his fault."

The last time the two sides met, back in November, Spurs ground out a 2-1 home win, with Gareth Bale's second-half goal proving to be decisive.

Over the course of their last ten meetings, in a record stretching all the way back to 1983, the Seagulls have won on two occasions - the most recent of which came last season, when a star showing from Brighton forward Aaron Connolly saw his sided romp to a 3-0 victory at the AMEX.
