Michael Owen offers worrying prediction for Brighton against Crystal Palace

Michael Owen believes Brighton's home record remains unconvincing despite their recent good form

Graham Potter's Brighton are on a fine run of form and are unbeaten in their last six and have kept five clean sheets in the process.

Palace arrive on the back of two defeats against Burnley and Leeds and will be without their star man Wilf Zaha.

Despite this Owen believes Brighton's record of just one home win in the Premier League this season is reason for Roy Hodgson's men to be optimistic.

"Crystal Palace travel to Brighton once again missing their star man, Wilfried Zaha," wrote Owen in his Bet Victor predictions blog."Brighton have won a lot of fans in recent weeks with big wins against Liverpool and Tottenham, however, when you look at their home record, it doesn’t fill you with confidence.

"The Seagulls’ have failed to win 15 of their last 16 home matches in the Premier League, so I’ll be approaching with caution here.

"I think Crystal Palace will sit in and try to hit on the counter, and if they get one, I think that’ll be enough to take a point at least."

Brighton’s Alireza Jahanbakhsh is hoping to return to the squad. Iran forward Jahanbakhsh (hamstring) has been sidelined since the FA Cup win against Newport last month and has missed the last nine matches.

Adam Webster is unlikely to feature after sustaining an ankle injury in the recent draw at Burnley and fellow defender Tariq Lamptey, sidelined since December with a hamstring problem, is definitely out.

Florin Andone is working his way back from a serious knee injury and Solly March had knee surgery earlier this month.

Crystal Palace’s injury crisis has shown no signs of abating, with boss Roy Hodgson admitting two further players picked up a knock against Burnley at the weekend.

However, in a slight boost for the Eagles, James McCarthy returned to training on Thursday, having not featured since January 30.

Wilfried Zaha continues to struggle with the hamstring injury he sustained against Newcastle, and Hodgson would not be drawn on a return date for the talismanic forward.
