'Officially signed' - Fabrizio Romano issues shock agent update for £40m Brighton star

All the latest transfer and contract news for Brighton and Hove Albion and across the Premier League

Brighton striker Georginio has switched agents, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Georginio joined Brighton in 2024 from Leeds United for a then record transfer fee of £40m.

The Frenchman has since made 74 appearances for Brighton with 13 goals and 11 assists.

Romano posted: "Brighton striker Georginio Rutter has officially signed with Unique Sports Group as new agency to represent him."

Georginio’s form dipped after a good start

Georginio had an encouraging first season with the Seagulls as he netted eight goals and claimed five assists in competitions.

His form dipped last term as he recorded just three goals but the 24-year-old returned in good shape for this campaign and looked sharp in pre-season.

He started well in the 4-0 win against Aston Villa but picked up an injury that saw him miss four matches.

He returned with two goals in Brighton's 4-0 Conference League win against Kauno Zalgiris and is expected to start for the Seagulls once again in the Conference League in the Czech Republic at FK Jablonec on Tursday night.

Georginio is however battling for regular starts in the Premier League as Greek striker Charalampos Kostoulas impressed during Georginio's absence and has five goals and four assists so far.

Kostoulas will likely start as the main striker once again in the Premier League at Liverpool this Sunday.

Georginio is contracted with Brighton until 2028 and was previously represented by ROGON.

Georginio: I’m not easy

Last week Georginio told Sussex World that he is not always the best trainer and is difficult to work with.

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler, speaking on Georginio last week, responded: "First of all I love to work with Georgie because he's such a great human being and I think it's easy to work with him.

“Sometimes he's standing in his own way, I would say a little bit his emotions. Sometimes they're very positive, sometimes can be everything quite negative.

“So for him it will be a challenge to be consistent in performances in a training session. To be consistent in performances when we have match day and this will be the key for him in his career and that's always what I say to him.

So much potential

“Because he has so much potential. He has everything what you need to have a great career. Everything what you need to be a top, top player.

“And therefore now it's about him to getting this consistency in his behaviors. So they're not behaviors anymore, they should be habits.

“If they're habits, then he will do it without thinking about it. I think that's the goal we're working to-towards, and therefore we are there to help him.

“But like I mentioned, I'm pleased with his development. And hopefully he can carry on like this because he will be important player for us.”
