£25m Brighton star wants to leave after 'lengthy talks'
All the latest transfer news and gossip for Brighton and Hove Albion and across the Premier League
Brighton are reportedly in talks with RB Leipzig on a possible permanent transfer for Brajan Gruda.
The German spent the second half of the season with Leipzeg in the Bundesliga and - according to German outlet Bild - the player is said to be keen to stay.
The Seagulls paid around £25m to sign Gruda from Mainz in the summer of 2024 but he has struggled to establish himself under head coach Fabian Hurzeler.
Talks are said to be ongoing between Brighton and Leipzeg for Gruda and “will intensify” after seventh-placed Brighton complete their Premier League.
Gruda has made 12 Bundesliga appearances for Leipzig, with three goals and three assists.
Bild stated: “There were lengthy talks with Brajan Gruda during the week, and RB Leipzig decided not to bid farewell to him.”
Brighton bid for Europe
Whether the Seagulls qualify for Europe will likely have a significant impact on their transfer strategy this summer.
Gruda is contracted with Brighton until 2028 and Albion - if they sell - will hope to recoup the £25m they paid.
He made 45 appearances for Brighton in all competitions with four goals and eight assists.
Gruda mainly played in the No 10 role for Brighton but also featured on the right flank.
The 21-year-old showed glimpses of his potential but remains behind the likes of Yankuba Minteh, Georginio and Jack Hinshelwood in the pecking order.
Brighton also have the emerging attacking talents of Harry Howell and Amario Cozier-Duberry.
