Brighton midfielder Solly March believes exciting times are ahead with new head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

The Italian was brought in to replace Graham Potter who joined Chelsea last month. De Zerbi's first match in charge was a thrilling 3-3 draw at Liverpool and the former Shakhtar Donetsk boss will make his home debut against Tottenham at the Amex Stadium this Saturday.

March has been impressed by the new head coach and said training sessions have been “shorter and sharper.”

“It’s been good working under Roberto, it’s intense," said March, speaking to the Brighton and Hove Albion website. "He has tried to get a lot information in, so as the weeks we go on the better we are going to understand the way he wants us to play. It’s exciting.

“The sessions are shorter and sharper I would say. It’s been a good start. When a new manager comes in it’s a clean slate for everyone, we all want to try and make an impression on him and show him what we can do, especially on the pitch.”

March, 28, has been a key player for fourth placed Albion this season and believes the home form will be key if they are improve on last term's ninth placed finish.

"I think people will have taken note of our performance in the first 20 minutes against Liverpool. If we can play like that for a full 90 minutes on a regular basis we can have a really great season.

“The morale is high in the team, we’re really together. Maybe playing away from home suits us better, but if we can get more home wins this season we could do a lot better and that’s the plan.

“Momentum is key. We’re still early in the season but if we can build on what Roberto wants, it could be a great season."
