March was a constant threat throughout the match and gave Manchester United right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka a tough afternoon.

The Albion man looked to have snatched a point for Graham Potter's men when he nodded home from close range to level the scores.

But a penalty from Bruno Fernandes after Neal Maupay handled in the box claimed victory for United deep into injury time.

It was perhaps harsh on Brighton who took the lead through Maupay's chipped spot kick after Fernandes fouled Tariq Lamptey.

An own goal from Lewis Dunk drew United level before a fine solo run from Marcus Rashford had put United into a 2-1 lead.

Albion hit the woodwork five times, including one from March in the second half, and also had a penalty overturn by VAR after Paul Pogba collided with Aaron Connolly in the box.

March's display was however a major plus for Brighton and the midfielder from Hailsham appears to be finding his best form in this new Albion formation.

“It was probably my best performance but the way we pressed and drove forward as a team was excellent, so credit to everyone,” said March.

“It was nice to get the goal. I had a few half-chances and I can’t believe the one that came off the post didn’t go in, but it is good to get in those positions.

"If I keep doing that I will score goals more regularly.

“The disappointment is quite high because we deserved a lot more but if we keep playing that way, we can get results in this league, even against the big clubs.

“The culture is great, everyone is pushing to get in the team, and you could see from the guys that came off the bench,” he said.

“I’m just trying to play well. I have managed to get on the ball and create chances. I really enjoy that wing-back role because I am in the game more - even winning tackles and making headers builds your confidence.

“Tariq [Lamptey] on the other side is a different player but we’re both working hard defensively and attacking-wise to help the team out.”
