Burn was a key player for Brighton under Graham Potter for two-and-a-half seasons but left in last January’s transfer window to join Newcastle United in a £13m deal.
Burn had previously been out on loan at Wigan and his career was at a crossroads before Potter’s arrival from Swansea in 2019.

Hide AdPotter helped the 6ft 7in defender establish himself in the Premier League and his versatility was key to helping Brighton maintain their top flight status.

Burn could play as left centre back, left of the back three, left back and even left wing back.
"Hugely (indebted). They took a chance to take me to the Premier League at the time,” Burn said. "All the staff and the manager there, I wouldn't be where I am without them. So it will be nice to go back and see people."
His performances won over the Brighton fans and many were sorry to see him leave when he joined his boyhood club.

Hide AdHe will be back on the south coast once more this Saturday as Brighton plan to make it two wins from their first two Premier League fixtures of the new season.
Burn was impressed but not surprised by Albion’s 2-1 win at Old Trafford last Sunday and is also looking forward to bumping into a few familiar faces.
"A lot of staff I didn't get to see because it happened so quickly,” he said. “It will be a tough game and we know we have only won one match so we need to kick on and put in another performance.
"It's always tough at Brighton. They are very good and showed that last season and by winning at Man United last Sunday. We will prepare properly just like we did for Forest and I am sure we will have a game plan."

Hide AdBurn’s move back to the north east has so far been a success as he helped Eddie Howe’s team survive last term and he was also outstanding in their opening match of the season where they beat newly-promoted Nottingham Forest 2-0.
Burn said: "It was good and exactly what we wanted. We worked hard in pre-season knowing that we wanted to start the game with a lot of intensity.
"I thought we dominated the game and it was one of those days where we had a lot of ball.
"But we couldn't score until Fabby popped up with a worldie.
