Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Mathew Ryan has pipped Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the October PFA Bristol Street Motors fans' player of the month award.

In a nail-biting fans' vote, Ryan drew with Aubameyang but Albion's Australian keeper was deemed the winner on a tie-break as he had played more Premier League minutes.

Only a handful of votes separated the nominees which also included Manchester City's Fernandinho, Chelsea's Ross Barkley and Manchester United's Anthony Martial.

Ryan was crowned the winner after he kept clean sheets against West Ham, Newcastle and Wolves in October as Brighton won all three games 1-0. He also made the most saves of any Premier League goalkeeper during the month.
