Brighton 'keeper has the last laugh on Everton, Millwall and Australia legend

Ryan praised the Seagulls for their 'never-say-die attitude' in coming back from 2-0 down and was pleased to get one over on ex-Everton hero and Australia's all-time goalscorer Cahill.

He said: "We always had belief in ourselves. The way it panned out today, that never-say-die attitude paid dividends for us.

"We got the job done which is the most important thing.

"I actually saw him (Cahill) on social media before the game announcing his support for Millwall today.

"I had a little chuckle to myself and said to myself 'not today mate'.

"Thankfully I got the last laugh so hopefully I can send him a message after this."

Millwall were leading 2-1 with 95 minutes on the clock when a dreadful error from Martin allowed March's free-kick to go straight through his hands, sending the game to extra-time.

Albion would eventually go on to beat the Lions 5-4 on penalties, to seal their first appearance in the final four of the FA Cup in 36 years, after Millwall captain Jake Cooper blazed his spot-kick over the bar.

On Martin's error, Ryan said: "I just approached him after the game. It happens.

"You look at just after half-time, there was a bit of a mix-up between Shane (Duffy) and I.

"Thankfully we mopped it up and unfortunately for the Millwall 'keeper he probably looks at that one and he thinks he could have done better."
