Butler launches new Blues strip

Dan Butler revealed he is already ticking off the days until pre-season after launching the new Pompey home strip.

The Blues left-back was a natural as a catwalk model for the new Sondico-designed kit on board HMS Warrior yesterday and performed his duties with good humour.

But after getting kitted up among the cannons, Butler admitted it has left him casting his mind to firing the first shots of the new season.

He said: ‘I really like the new kit – but it just makes me want to get out there and play in it now!

‘It’s good that we got rid of the collar and I think the fans will like it.

‘This one is a bit looser as well.

‘That last one was really tight and we had to switch at half-time every game because it was dripping with sweat.

‘So I think this one will be a lot better.

‘But I’m looking forward to the new season a lot and I want to get back as soon as possible.

‘The club has already made some good signings, which is great to see.

‘There are going to be a lot of new people to meet when we get back, so hopefully we can gel together and do well next season.’
