Hillians have recorded 35 points in the opening 24 fixtures although the boss has warned his side to continue working hard to confirm their position in the division next season.

Chapman said “Obviously we are really pleased to be on 35 points from 24 games, but there is still loads of work to be done for us to reach 52 points.

“The last two performances have been excellent, probably the best we’ve played all season against two decent sides.”

The Hillians will be looking to continue their good form when they host Merstham at the Green Elephants Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Hillians’ good performance last week against high flying opposition Canvey Island followed up on the previous weekend’s win against Tonbridge Angels.

Chapman said on the win over Canvey “The first half was massive with defending against the wind and if we could get in at half-time even or a goal down it wouldn’t have been the end of the world.

“It was a really strong wind and to get the penalty just after they had scored to make it 1-1… we didn’t think we had done the job, but we thought it was a real incentive for us to go out and go on and win the game.

“3-2 probably flattered them today and we could have won 4-1 or even 5-1 with all the chances we had.

“That is no disrespect to them I just thought we were really decent today going forward.

Chapman praised Hill forwards Chris Smith and Sam Gargan saying: “Sam coming into the team has definitely helped us. He and Chris seem to be really enjoying playing together and really complement each other.”

Defender Will Miles said “Last week we got a decent win away and obviously this week it’s good to carry it on, and it’s a massive six points at this stage of the season coming up to Christmas.”
