Chichester ladies win at Enfield to go second


The Lilywhites started slowly with Enfield dominating the early possession and the home side’s strikers exploiting the vast space left between the Chichester midfield and defence.
Chichester dug in and soon sprang the Enfield offside trap. With the keeper rooted to the line Abbey Shrubb didn’t need to be asked twice and smashed the ball home - against the run of play.

Hide AdChichester found their stride with Willett and Widdowson winning the battle in the middle of the park. Just before the break,Shrubb got in behind the back-line again and slotted home to put the Lilywhites 2-0 up.
The second half saw Chichester keep control and have several chances to increase the lead.
Enfield pushed hard in the latter stages but McNamara kept them out with two outstanding saves.
This Sunday Chichester face Rottingdean at Oaklands Park (2pm) in the first round of the Sussex Cup.

The reserves didn’t play as Dorking couldn’t raise a side so Chichester were given all three points and remain top of the league with six wins from six games.
