'Clear in our minds' - Crawley Town plotting January signings as Scott Lindsey and owners hold transfer talks

Crawley Town manager Scott Lindsey says he and the club’s owners have already had long meetings about what they need to do in the January transfer window to strengthen the squad.

It’s hasn’t been the start to the season Reds wanted but recent wins against Bristol Rovers and Fleetwood Town have seen Crawley get away from the bottom of the two in League Two.

This start followed another summer where fans saw big squad changes with 16 players coming in and 12 players leaving.

And in a BBC interview recently, owner Raf Khalili, who took over in August, said: “The recruiting in the summer was what it was because there was a big transition happening, we lost sight of a bit of data because of the transition.

"We will deepen our squad in January, 100%."

In the build up to the Fleetwood game last week, we asked Lindsey if they already had talks about who they want to bring in and what positions they want to strengthen.

"We've had conversations, we've had long meetings, those conversations have started,” he said.

“They started probably weeks ago if the truth be known and I think that it's clear in our minds what we need to do and how we need to do.

"We've just got to make sure that we try and pick up as many points between now and January before we do strengthen to put us in a better position.”

And Khalili also gave Lindsey his backing in that same BBC interview, despite the results Crawley have suffered this season so far.

"Scott has my full backing, 100%," said Khalili. "If we had bad people in the building and we were playing bad football, it would be a different story.

"Our playing style is extremely important to me. Scott plays beautiful football, the players respect him, he has a lot of resilience, he's the right guy to take this club where I want the club to go, in the right way."

Reds will be looking to climb the table further on Saturday when they travel to Gillingham on Saturday.
