In what was an evenly contested local derby, the visitors looked to have done enough to claim all three points but goals from Rob Brown and then Tony Dehnehy ensured Clymping earned a share of the spoils.

Ferring were quick out of the blocks as they began to dominate proceedings, and just as Clymping began to get a foothold in the match, Josey Stakim rifled the ball home from outside the area to give the visitors the lead.

The hosts then had a glorious chance to equalise but Ben Bishop’s diving header went wide, and they were made to rue that missed opportunity as Sean O’Reilly doubled Ferring’s lead on the hour mark.

Clymping were unfortunate not to halve the deficit when Rob Brown’s goalbound header inadvertently struck Paul Hodder on the line, but they did find a way back into the contest as Brown bundled home from close range in the 90th minute.

There was still time for the home side to grab a deserved equaliser in injury-time. The hosts were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area and defender Dehnehy stepped up and curled his effort into the top corner to snatch a last-gasp point for his side.

Clymping manager Mike Williamson said: “I’m extremely happy with the players as it looked like a lost cause and it was a really good point.

“I can’t fault the effort of the players as they did really well. If we can start taking our chances, we should start climbing the league.”
