After a weather-disrupted few weeks Selsey were pleased to get out and play – and boss Daren Pearce was delighted with the result.

He said: “It ended up being a good day for the lads in the end in what can only be described as one of the most wind-blown days at Selsey FC I’ve been involved in.

Bexhill are one of the league’s most consistent performers and have a great experienced squad but we are more than a match for anyone on our day and we were good value in the end for our win.

“But we need to be more consistent to keep up the building process we are putting into progress since we took over 18 months ago.”

Bexhill took an early lead through Jamie Bunn from a wind-assisted corner but Selsey levelled with a nice team goal rounded off by Morey.

After the break Selsey grabbed the winner when Cowan struck home a great free-kick after Max Davies was brought down when clean through outside the box.

The Blues spurned a couple of half-chances to extend the lead, but Pearce said: “All in all it was a very pleasing performance after a few weeks off because of the weather.”

Selsey visit Shoreham on Saturday.
