Crawley Town could have crowd in for Scunthorpe game - and here's why

Crawley Town Football Club have confirmed that they remain in dialogue with both the local authority and EFL regarding staging a pilot fixture this Saturday against Scunthorpe United.

The club received communication of the the opportunity to allow fans into The People's Pension Stadium at approximately 11:15am today (Tuesday 15th September), with a strict deadline of 2pm the same day for any applications to be made.

A club statement said: "Owing to the financial restructuring of the club's operation, a number of challenges have arisen over the summer, of which have impacted the subsequent applications made to both the EFL and local authority as well as the unforseen deadline that has appeared this afternoon.

"The club remain confident of staging a test event at The People's Pension Stadium at some-point in September, but must stress that there is no guarantee of when this may be.

"Crawley Town Football Club remain on track to facilitate the safe return of fans in October in accordance with government advice.

"Season Ticket Holders who are eligible for a free iFollow code for Saturday's fixture will be contacted towards the end of the week with information on how to redeem said their match pass.

"Any further updates will be made via the club's website and social media."
