Crawley Town goal hero praises new boss Colin Kazim-Richards

Goal hero Tobi Adeyemo praised new Crawley Town manager Colin Kazim-Richards after their 2-0 win against Gillingham on Saturday.

Crawley scored two goals in added time to claim a vital three points in their fight against relegation, with Adeyemo netting his first goal for the side.

His goal came after Taylor Richards’ strike. With Barrow and Newport winning, it leaves Reds still in 21st but just two points off relegation leading in their huge game with Newport on Good Friday.

Adeyemo said: “Massive three points, we’ve been training hard. Today we wanted to go after them and work hard and luckily, we came out with a result.

“Credit to the boys, I feel like it started in training, we’ve been competing and working hard and that transpired into the game today so credit to the boys.”

The striker was granted only his second start of the season, and put in an impressive performance to give the West Sussex side three points.

“I haven’t played as much as I’d have liked to but I always believe in myself, I believe in my colleagues and I back myself to be the one who does the business," he said. “To finally get my chance to play and get 90 minutes in the tank and a goal to top it off, I’m happy.

“We just kept pushing and now today’s done, we’re going to focus on the next six because they’re all big cup finals.

“I love scoring goals and in training I was hitting the back of the net, I get a buzz from it so to get my first goal for the side is amazing.

Adeyemo was full of praise for new manager Colin Kazim-Richards in his first game as Crawley manager. He said: “Kazim-Richards gave me faith and said ‘I just want you to do your thing’. He hasn’t put pressure on me at all, he just wants me to flourish and be myself and to go at the game and be myself and show my capabilities, so credit to Colin.

“There’s a lot of togetherness and that’s important because in this situation everyone’s important. From the kitchen staff to the media team, everyone’s together and it’s a great atmosphere to be in.

Crawley will hope to build on this result, they travel to relegation rivals Newport County on Good Friday in a crucial matchup.
