Tom Nichols scored the winner after a great move and Matthews was clearly delighted with the way they scored. See full interview below

He said: "That's the football we want to be playing. The games can be scrappy and you have to do a lot of dirty work to gain those moments but I think the more we play together, the more confident we will get and we will see those patterns of football come up more and more."

Matthews has had a frusutrating pre-season, picking up a couple of injuries. But he played 80 minutes and was pleased to get the time on the pitch.

He said: "It was great to be back out there with the lads for my first start, I really enjoyed it.

"It's a good win for us, hopefully now we can kick on and put some results together on the back of this.

"It's been frustrating because I have had a couple of minor niggles and have had to be a bit cautious with it but the staff have been great and managed to build it up to be ready for today and to get through 80 minutes was great.

"I want to play as many games as possible now and hopefully put a good run together and get my match fitness up."
