After his release from Grimsby Town earlier this week, Tilley joins the Reds after progressing through the ranks at Brighton and Hove Albion within the youth system.

Before being transferred to Grimsby in 2019, the attacking midfielder also had loan spells at Cork City and Yeovil Town, where he played nineteen times in league competition for both sides.

Tilley is a local player residing in West Sussex, and signed a two-and-a-half year deal with an option for a third. On arrival, James claimed he was “buzzing to be here and to get started”, as he should be registered in time for our Sky Bet League Two clash against Stevenage on Tuesday.

He tweeted: "New chapter grateful for the opportunity! Buzzing to get started @crawleytown."

Technical Director Erdem Konyar said: “James is a local lad with genuine potential to develop into an important member of the squad. John Yems and Lee Bradbury are proving to be a setup in which players are eager to come and play for.

“With James joining the team we are adding further quality to an already talented group.”

Head Coach John Yems said: “He’s a good player and I’m glad he’s joined us, he’s also a local lad and I hope he has a successful career here at Crawley.”

James will wear the number 38 shirt for the Reds.
