But how did the players perform? Here are Philip Richardson's player ratings from Tuesday evening.
5. Tony Craig - 8
Despite his shaky start being beaten in the air by Henderson for the first goal, he did well to deal with long balls as well low through balls. In the second half he was excellent winning everything and showing a calm head to clear the ball when necessary.
6. George Francomb - 9.5
He did a really good job early on to get the ball down and try and play. Another fine captains display as he showed calm in the defensive third combined with lethal end product on show picking out a lovely cross for Ashley Nadesan for the Reds first half goal. Again, in the second half he looked to pass the ball on the floor when possible and put in another great ball to assist the Jake Hessenthaler goal.
7. Jack Payne - 8
Another very solid performance looking to spread the ball whenever possible and made very few errors. Looked to get the ball down and play rather than simply play long. Defensively in the second half he was excellent pressing well and winning the ball back often.
8. Jake Hessenthaler - 9
A solid performance doing very little wrong and looking to slow the game down and gain control. Salford did get some luck playing between the lines but he dealt well with it. In the second half he looked to get forwards more and challenge the Salford defence. This paid off when his towering header found the back of the net to win the game.
