According to a source close to the club a fee had been agreed between both Reds and the Shakers for the 23-year-old, who Richie Barker managed while he was in charge at Gigg Lane.

Crawley were hoping the deal would go through at the end of last week but the player’s agent is believed to have contacted the club to inform them he wants to stay in the north of England.

The talented midfielder is expected to leave Bury following their relegation to League 2, and could already be close to signing for another club.
