Midfield general McIntyre, 33, is joined by three with FA Women’s Championship experience – striker Magda Mosengo, 24, has signed from Crystal Palace, goalkeeper Megen Lynch, 29, arrives from London Bees, and midfielder Immy Lancaster, 21, comes in from league rivals Oxford United.

Wasps have also added Isle of Man-born winger Sarah Wignall and two players who previously represented the club at youth level – former Gillingham and Charlton wide player Flo Jackson, 22, and winger Holly Talbut-Smith, 23.

Goalkeeper Lynch will replace Frankie Gibbs, who has opted to leave the club after three years and 69 appearances as the club’s number one. She helped Wasps to back-to-back promotions, five cup finals and played in the Women’s FA Cup game with Arsenal in February 2019.

Kemina Webber, Wasps’ top scorer in 2018-19, has signed forms with lower-division Whyteleafe, while midfielder Ariana Fleischman, who played 61 times, has joined league rivals Chichester & Selsey.

Sam Pittuck (Billericay Town), Maria Ledezma-Viso (Brighouse Town) and Alex Newman (Dulwich Hamlet) have all left after a season with the club.

Wasps, who were nine points ahead of Watford at the top of the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division when last season was curtailed, begin the new campaign on Sunday (September 20) with a trip to Hounslow.

They will then host MK Dons on September 27 in their first home game.

Wasps are under new management, with Dave Cole stepping up from assistant to take charge following Paul Walker’s departure last month.

Wasps’ Development Squad – the club’s third team – won their opening league game 2-1 at Newhaven on Sunday. Lauren Callaghan and Rebekah Dunt netted either side of a Newhaven equaliser.
