The younger brother of Adam El Abd, who has played for Brighton, Bury and Bristol City as well as the Egyptian national team, is the first new face to commit to the Rocks’ bid for promotion next season.

They have recruited him from Peacehaven, but he has also served Whitehawk and Lewes.

Sami El-Abd was with Brighton until he was 16 and then played for Crawley Town before they went into administration and released some younger players.

He then linked up with Team Bath and played more than 100 games for them before the team folded.

Rocks boss Jamie Howell said: “He will be a very important addition to our squad ad I’m delighted to have signed him.”
