EP had won 3-2 at home to the same opponents on Saturday and had a few early chances as Jack Barnes and Lukas Franzen-Jones both went close.

Little Common went ahead when Daniel Cruikshank had a free header from a corner to open the scoring.

The hosts then struck twice early in the second half through Martin Denny and Jamie Crone as EP rarely troubled the Common keeper.

EP boss Bob Paine said: “After a good first 30 minutes when we played some good football on a tricky surface, we seemed to lose our way and were disappointing for the rest of the match.

“Defensively as a team is usually our strength but it wasn’t tonight. The league has always been our priority and we have a big league game on Saturday at which I’ll be looking for a positive reaction from the players following tonight’s poor performance.”
