Drummy: '˜We weren't at the races in the second half'

He revealed he is looking at which players at the club are going to be capable of playing the type of open, attacking play he likes to play.

Drummy also admitted there were problems with the way players tried to defend, especially in the second half when 1-0 down when Crawley conceded two further goals scored by former Red John Akinde to end up losing 3-0.

He said: “We can go on like an old record about the levels in the first half.

“We weren’t at the races in the second half physically and mentally.

“It’s my job to get a group of players who are capable of playing the way I want to play next season. It’s my responsibility.

“There’s no point me coming in here and playing a different way.

“I have to be judged on who I bring in and how I work that group.”

Drummy criticised his side’s play which led to Barnet’s first goal which came direct from a headed clearance by Sonny Bradley which was fired back into the area and beat keeper Jack Rose.

“The clearance needed to be better, the organisation from the long throw-in, he hits a great strike but we can get a life-saving block on that.”

Drummy stressed the game could have gone differently had they equalised immediately after Barnet took the lead when Shamir Fenelon’s shot had not been cleared off the line by Bira Dembele.

He said: “Then we get a goal cleared off the line, possibly a hand-ball, so there are those reasons,

“That turns the tide mentally sometimes for the players, where it has happened so many times they expect it and then it’s a case of how do you lift yourselves?

“Then the concentration goes when the physicality drops.

“The third goal was caused through errors where we need to ask the players do they know what they are doing and if they are prepared to work on it?

“Bobson nearly scores. You’ve got to put that away. If we had scored then we would have been playing great football.”
