The Arun Sports Arena is home of the newly re-named inclusive football team every Saturday from 11am to midday.

The team was originally set up in 2018 to help Andy Dye’s nephew have a football team he could belong to.

He used to get upset at not being able to play with the other children so Andy decided to start a disability team, where anyone with a disability could have a place in football where they felt included.

The team formed with some loyal members, four of which are still playing today.

The team is currently coached by Andy Dye and Reece Nolan.

The family-friendly feel out on the pitch makes everyone feel relaxed and welcome, even a few of the other Wick Dynamos players will often stay to join in and help out the team, bringing everyone together regardless of disability, race or gender.

It is a delight to watch the team improve week by week.

It's football for all

They play in the Sussex Disability League which hosts matches in Lancing once a month; however Covid-19 means they have not been able to participate this season.

The matches are always sportsmanlike and everyone gets a chance to play. Parent Louise Rule said: “My son has always struggled with competitive things and being part of this team has really helped his social development as well as his fitness.

“He feels like he belongs somewhere. It’s the highlight of his week!”

Seeing the kids’ faces when they score a goal is incredible.

Watching other chil-dren accept them for who they are and the kindness pouring out on the field is heartwarming.

This team is something to be proud of. They are the embodiment of happiness.

The team would be excited to welcome new players into the Wick Dynamos Inclusive family. Visit www.wickdynamos.com or see Facebook for more information.
