Ertl speaks of Pompey '˜pride' at MK Dons result

Johnny Ertl insists Pompey can be proud of their MK Dons draw, despite letting a two-goal lead slip.

Michael Appleton’s men raced into a 2-0 lead after Izale McLeod and Gabor Gyepes netted in the opening 20 minutes.

The scoreline could have been even greater had Brian Howard not struck an early penalty against the post.

Yet Adam Webster’s own goal reduced the deficit for Karl Robinson’s men, who then went on to level in the 72nd minute through Darren Potter.

The Blues found it tough during the second half against a Dons side who enjoyed plenty of possession.

Nonetheless, they claimed a point at the promotion hopefuls and Ertl is adamant it is a result to be applauded.

He said: ‘I think we have got to look at it from the positive side because before the game we would have taken a point.

‘We had one of our best starts to a game this season, we kept them quiet, we worked really hard as a unit and went 2-0 up.

‘Unfortunately they came back to get a draw but we still did very well at a tough place against a strong team and could go home proud.

‘Of course I would have taken three points and when you come off the pitch you are really gutted not to have done that.

‘But then, if you are thinking back, we would have taken one point here.

‘We played really well and we stuck together as a unit. That’s the important thing.

‘They are playing at home with a lot of confidence and we knew that it’s a tough, tough place to go.

‘So to get a 2-2 draw is definitely a good result for us.

‘Even when we conceded the second goal everybody wanted to dig in and go for it.

‘There are so many positive signs right now.’
