Felpham in fine form to clinch under-12 title

First they went to Worthing Town where they won a tight game 1-0 thanks to a great chip from Danny Sadler.

The next week the Colts had to travel to face title rivals Worthing Dynamos.

The team played their best football of the season and came through 4-1 winners thanks to a Sadler hat-trick and a Mike Logan goal.

In the final game, the Colts needed a point against Lancing Rangers to take the title. After a tight game they secured a 3-2 win with great goals by Sadler, Jamie Aldred and Tom Riseborough to get the celebrations started.

Chichester City Youth 3 Hawks Youth 2

Chichester City Youth beat previously-unbeaten Hawks Youth to remain top of the league.

They saved one of their best performances of the season for the crucial top-of-the-table clash with the Hawks.

Chichester got off to a storming start with man of the match Mitchell Pope getting round the back of the Hawks defence to put in a low cross for Tom Green to score the first goal.

A set-piece from Connor O’Hara was headed back across goal for Joe Gromett to put away his 30th goal of the season.

Chichester relaxed their pressing game and paid the price when Hawks took full advantage from a set-piece and scored with an unchallenged header.

More pressure and another well-worked set-piece saw a flicked header go in to make it 2-2.

After the break Chi returned to their pressing game and won a penalty for handball. Jonathan Tallent stepped up to convert it.

Chi’s midfielders and forwards worked hard and the back four mopped up anything thrown at them.

They held on and the victory means Chi are the only team this season to take any points off the very strong Hawks team – who they have beaten and drawn with. It also means each of the top three have lost a game – and it’s closer than ever between them.

Pagham Youth 0 Arundel 1

The final result indicated how close this game was as a full-strength Pagham fought hard against a resilient Arundel team.

The first half was end to end with plenty of flowing football and goalscoring opportunities for both sides.

Pagham went close early on with chances for Rory Wood, Jonny Gosbee and Charlie Richardson.

In the second half, substitute Luke Vincent’s left-foot strike was pushed on to the bar by the Arundel keeper.

Arundel got the only goal of the game when a 60-yard hopeful punt over the top by the Arundel keeper fooled Pagham’s man between the sticks to dip in just under the bar. Pagham pressed for a deserved equaliser, hitting the bar and the post, but were not able to draw level.

Worthing Town 3 Predators Youth 3

Predators chose players’ positions by pulling names out of a hat.

A great header by Rodway put Predators in front but they struggled to keep control of the ball and a break by Worthing saw keeper of the day Blackman beaten. In the second half Worthing found an opening for a second but Predators fought back and a shot by Cook was deflected to Davies, who scored.

Worthing gave the keeper no chance when they scored another great goal. But Predators rejigged and Josling equalised – making him top scorer with 48.

Lancing Rangers 2 Chi City Youth 2

Chichester dominated the first half with some great football but Lancing took the lead with their only attack of the half, a speculative shot from the edge of the area dipping over Christy Carter in goal.

City levelled before the break, Collins Alfred forcing his way into the area to bundle the ball under the keeper.

The second half saw City take the lead when left-back James Scutt powered between the Lancing back-line and cut it back for Will Hutchings to tap in.

Confident defensive play by James Amos and Dan Macdonald kept them at bay until they levelled from a corner.

Man of the match was Scutt, who worked hard and made a goal.

Predators 2 Worthing United Youth 6

Predators lost to a very strong Worthing side in the final of the Invitation Cup at Arundel FC.

Predators took the lead as Sean Donner’s long-range shot was deflected past the keeper. Worthing came back strongly and it was no surprise when they equalised and took the lead shortly before half-time.

Worthing added two further goals after half-time before Ashley Butler converting a cross from Predators man-of-the-match Brandon Williams following a surging run down the right wing.

Predators were caught twice more.
